Ultraliner Boiler Truck: Boiler Gauges & Controls |

Boiler High/Low Temperature Control: | The boiler high/low temperature control is a thermostat which controls the temperatures at which the boiler flame extinguishes and reignites. |
Boiler Temperature Gauge: | |
Boiler Pressure Gauge: | The boiler pressure MUST be monitored independently from the "A" station pressure. The boiler pressure should never be permitted to exceed the boiler rating or to be in violation of relevant regulations. |
| Also part of the Water System: | |
Electronic Water Level & Pressure Controls:
| Water level is critical to the safe operation of a boiler. High or low water levels can be damaging to the boiler and can be extremely dangerous despite other safety precautions. Automatic, electronic controls of boiler water levels and pressure with emergency shut-offs and alarms are required by law. The Ultraliner Boiler Truck has redundant safety controls. |
Water Level Site Glass & Manual Controls: | The water level site glass provides a visual confirmation of the boiler water levels. Manual controls are available should the electronic controls ever fail to operate properly. |
| Also part of the Fuel System: | |
Boiler Fire Controls:
| The fire controls are used to adjust the flame height to low or high, depending upon the desired boiler temperature. When the pipeliner is being pre-heated in the reel trailer, the super-heated steam drops to 212 degrees F within the unpressurized trailer, regardless of the boiler temperature. Thus while pre-heating the pipeliner in the reel trailer, a higher boiler temperature will release more thermal energy faster without altering the temperature to which the pipeliner is actually exposed. During pipeliner processing, the boiler temperature is generally lowered by adjusting the flame height. [Note: The addition of compressed air helps to further lower the temperature to the desired range, even when pressurizing the pipeliner. The addition of air also results in a "drier" steam. However, the temperature and volume of the actual steam introduced into the pipeliner will determine the thermal energy available to heat the pipeliner and will greatly affect the required processing time.] |

Boiler Fuel Pressure Gauge & Flame Window:
| Fuel pressure gauges are placed throughout the fuel system to assist in maintenance and troubleshooting. The flame window allows visual confirmation of the boiler operation. |
