Ultraliner Installation Equipment Guidelines

Important Note: Ultraliner, Inc. does not endorse the use of any particular manufacturer's equipment. Ultraliner, Inc. does not specify equipment requirements, but rather offers information regarding the general practice of Ultraliner's installers to provide guidance in a contractor's selection of equipment. The interpretation and application of the following information rests solely with the contractor. Each contractor must independently determine the cost, size, design use, and capacity of their own selection of equipment. Each contractor must independently ensure the safety of their equipment and the compliance of their equipment with local and national regulations.

A contractor should have access to all cleaning and inspection equipment necessary to prepare a host pipe for pipelining, suggested to include but not limited to:

jetter and/or vac truck

rooter

pipe plugs

ripcord unit

Fully equipped CCTV truck
(with color pan and tilt camera)

In order to properly install Ultraliner PVC Alloy Pipeliner, contractors generally need to acquire the following types of pipeliner installation equipment:

boiler or steam generator mounted in a truck or trailer
(Feel free to review the Ultraliner Field Service Crew boiler truck configuration)

electric generator, air compressor, and portable air tank

after-cooler (required) and ice bath (optional addition)
(to cool the air compressor air)

water feed connections

reserve water tank with automatic pump (optional)

boiler controls and a-station
[with gauges (high quality, liquid gauges are recommended) for monitoring temperature and pressure and with valves for controlling the volume of steam and air]

steam hoses

method of leveling the boiler
(hydraulic jacks shown as an example)

water trap
(to purge excess water from the steam line)

compressed air connections

enclosed reel trailer or tarp for reel

flow-through plugs
(assortment of sizes capable of 4" to 24")

pressure gauges
(for monitoring of plug pressures)

chain (or airplane cable) and duct tape
(to prepare the pipeliner for insertion pulling)

swivel connector
(to allow the winch cable to twist independently from the pipeliner during insertion)

winch or bucket machine

cable roller

steam can
(for preparing pipeliner for plugging)

b-station
[with gauges (high quality, liquid gauges are recommended) for monitoring temperature and pressure and with a valve for adjusting pressure]

color, pan and tilt CCTV camera

robotic cutter
(for service lateral reinstatement)

required safety equipment
(to meet local and national safety requirements,
including but not limited to those pertaining to confined space entry
-- a few items shown)

saws-all
(for trimming the pipeliner)

drill
(for preparing the pipeliner
for the insertion pull)

air blower

vice-grips and liquid soap
(to assist with plug insertion)

Additionally, the availability of complimentary pipe rehabilitation techniques can be advantageous, such as:
grout packer with lateral packer
point repair system
manhole rehabilitation system
