Computer Requirements

This site is best viewed with a frames enabled browser such as Internet Explorer 4.0 (or higher) with Javascript enabled. Netscape has been known to alter the frameset design. Although our website looks and works fine at any resolution, we recommend a minimum display resolution of 800x600 to get the best possible browsing experience.

Navigating Our Website

In order to reach different sections of our website we have provided a menu system. The main-menu of the system can be found at the top left below the words "Go To".

To use the menu click the "down arrow" icon on the right side of the menu-box. A list of options will appear. Select the section of our website which interests you.

Most of the sections of our website also contain a "sub-menu" (which appears on the left side of the black bar below our logo). The sub-menu operates similar to the main-menu, however, it only shows information relevant to the specific section of the website which you are viewing. Select the sub-section of our website which interests you.
The first entry of each menu is the main page for that website section. For example, "Home" is the first section listed in the main menu and "Product - General Information" is the first page in the "Products" section of our website. You can always return to our website's Home page by clicking on "Home" in the main-menu or by pressing the "Refresh" button on your web browser.

You will undoubtably notice that the "Refresh" button will ALWAYS reset your browser back to the "Home" page. If you need to Refresh a specific page (for instance if you are in the Bulletin Board and want to be sure you are viewing the most current documents) you can "right click" your mouse in the area of the page you wish to refresh and select "Refresh" in the list that appears.

You should also recognize that, if you use the browser's "Back" button, the main menu may not reflect the section you are actually in. For example, if you go from here to the "About Us"section of our website and subsequently click your browser's "Back" button, you will return to this "Navigating Our Website" page, but the main menu will continue to display "About Us". The "Back" button is convenient and widely used because the browser can immediately reopen a previously viewed page from a local "temporary cache file" without re-contacting the website or "refreshing" the content. While this is a very fast way to return to a page, as you can see, content within navigational frames will not be refreshed. Our website is, therefore, easiest to navigate when avoiding the use of the browser "Back" button.

Furthermore, linking directly to individual pages currently results in loss of the frames which contain our website's navigational controls. By using frames, the common information and controls at the top and left sides of the website only need to be loaded once, thereby, enabling you to load pages faster. Additionally, frames permit our navigational menu system to fit into a very small area so that you can focus upon the information for which you are looking. Furthermore, frames allow us to share information with the Trenchless Industry Web website, and still have the information "branded" at our own storefront. We have taken every effort to provide the easiest means of finding (and re-finding) information on our website through our menu system and our extensive search capabilities. Eventually, we will upgrade our website so that direct linking to specific pages will be possible, while still maintaining the current ease of website navigation.
